Conveniently, I had forgotten just how time consuming maintaining a blog is.  The feeling must be akin to deciding to have another child, after forgetting how difficult the first one was.  Before every parent reading this post shouts me down for having the gall to compare recreational composition to rearing a human being, I hastily clarify that, of course, it’s a matter of degrees.

Yet starting a blog is no mean feat.  You have to generate a vision, a theme, a broad idea of what your blog will become.  From that fleeting idea you must set in stone certain details which will define the project: a domain name, username, visual layout, and color scheme, to name a few.  After the initial startup phase is complete, the task of customization begins.  Figuring out how to change the font type, moderate the comments, justify the text in each post, etc.; each of these tasks requires lots of digging and frustration.  Certain themes won’t allow changes to the color scheme, or, more frequently, “high level” customizations will require an annual fee.  As if.

And then, suddenly, it’s midnight.  And the dishes are still in the sink.

Blogs vs Time, Round 1
